About the Maplewood, New Jersey Area

The downtown area is commonly referred to as “the village” and comes complete with a movie theater, grocery and local eateries. You may not find any chains stores or restaurants here, but you’ll quickly have a list of your local favorites.  

Maplewood is a naturally beautiful suburban township with tree-lined streets, sidewalks, parks and an overall welcoming neighborhood feel. Colonials, Tudors and Victorians are prevalent, with some new construction.  

Buyers may choose Maplewood for its close proximity to New York, but you don’t have to leave the area for culture and recreation. Maplewood's Burgdorff Cultural Center is a local venue for concerts, with entertainment including jazz, blues, and chamber music. The Maplewood Arts Center is where you’ll find artist exhibits and art classes throughout the year, both for kids and adults. For some outdoor enrichment, you’ll enjoy exploring the South Mountain Reservation. It covers more than 2,000 acres of which part extends into Maplewood.  

Schools:
Sharing a school district with Maplewood, the schools are known for their varied curriculum. The high school, Columbia, has an award winning T.V production center and one of the state’s best fencing teams.
