About the South Orange, New Jersey Area 

Imagine driving into a picturesque town, streets illuminated with gaslights. Welcome to South Orange.  

South Orange is truly a fabulous town. Originally a summer resort--a retreat from NYC--South Orange maintains much of its old time charm, while attracting hip stores and restaurants to its great walkable downtown. The homes in town are a variety of types and prices--something for everyone you might say. Montrose, South Orange's historic core, is home to huge Victorian, Tudor and Colonial mansions, some boasting ballrooms!  

Sitting atop a hill overlooking downtown South Orange is Newstead. This area has a mix of mid century homes and cool contemporaries, some with views of Manhattan. Another area knows as Upper Wyoming, also boasts an incredible variety of homes from stunning Tudors to classic Colonials.  

The downtown has undergone a revival the past few years, with a new Eden Gourmet market, a performing arts center, SOPAC, and a number of great restaurants.  

Schools:
Sharing a school district with Maplewood, the schools are known for their varied curriculum. The high school, Columbia, has an award winning T.V production center and one of the state’s best fencing teams.
